There. The sun illuminates the moment; but for a mere second. Her heart is speeding- his is failing. The fight is gone. The war that raged before has halted. Casualties counted. Bombs dropped. Each second is slipping. He feels it. The wind rushing through, sending icy chills. A sign. He takes it. Gives up. It's as if nothing matters in that moment. The glass wall has been rejuvenated. Each shard is sharper than before. His head is lying in his hands. His sweaty, guilty hands. She watches him without interest. All emotion gone. There is a voice- screaming. Hold on; for a few more seconds, the moment will count. But it doesn't.
His promises lift off of his shoulders and soar high with the birds. Lies cover his face, his body, his hands. Her heart is ice. She doesn't look at him. Everything is breaking. Two planets colliding in a massive war. Their water spilling. Their land becoming mud. The light breaks. For a moment, everything is eternally dark. It feels as if it's pulling on you. Dragging you within the depths of it's mysteries. It's a rope. Twisted with needles. They plunge into your skin, but you don't cry out. You don't feel pain like you used to. You're too far gone.
You want change. You welcome the new flowers, the humid breeze, even the sand. But you're closed. Something in you has shut down forever and there's no way to get it back. Or is there? You don't try. It's hopeless, isn't it? Your limbs feel like gel. Pulling on your body like an unnecessary weight. Your bones are mush. Each one blending into your body. You see them there. The bench carrying their weight. The wood is oak- it pannels beneath their weight. The trees catch your eye as they sway with more emotion. But you can't take it. With one last breath, you fly away.
